If you are interested in getting married at our church, you should first meet with our pastor to discuss your interest and expectations. He will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. If you wish to proceed with your wedding planning, you should know that our church is governed by a Consistory, which meets monthly. The Consistory is a group of church members serving as Elders and Deacons and the Pastor. It is the Consistory that will ultimately approve your wedding service at United. We request that you attend worship on at least two occasions prior to your wedding being approved and between the approval and your wedding day. We ask this of you so that you will be well-assured that the way our Pastor conducts services will compliment your expectations for your wedding service. There is also a religious and community dimension to making your vows at United Reformed Church and we want you to be comfortable with who we are. We do NOT require membership prior to approval; only familiarity.
Once the Consistory has approved your wedding date, you will meet several times with the Pastor. A series of pre-marital counseling sessions are not required. The Pastor will provide you with some helpful questions to consider prior to getting married and you will have time to talk about them during your meetings.
If you would like more information about our wedding policy or would like to arrange an appointment with the Pastor, please call the church office at (908) 725-4545 or email our Pastor directly at
