This year, the Peter Mayer Group's Annual Stars and Promises Christmas Concert will be live streamed from Mayer’s hometown of Nashville to Somerville on Friday, December 11th beginning at 7:30 p.m.

In past years, the Stars & Promises concert was performed live at here at United Reformed Church in our sanctuary. We know so many of you look forward to this concert every year as the start of your holiday season. So, you will and be glad to know that we can expect some of the same treats such as the colorful arrangements of favorite traditional and original carols, composed and led by Mayer and performed by an ensemble of world-class musicians. The event will also include a virtual appearance by our beloved Somerville Chamber Choir directed by Karen Gorzinski.

The theme of this year’s concert is "The Unexpected Gift," Mayer said. “It has been a trying time for communities across this country that are experiencing challenges and loss through this pandemic. As we move into the season that heralds refrains of hope, joy and peace, I have been amazed to witness the unexpected gift of communities stepping up to care for fellow citizens and neighbors. I have seen courage and hope alive and well in people coming together to share ‘the best of us for the rest of us.”

This year the proceeds of the online concert will benefit the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset and the Somerville Educational Foundation.
